Japan is blessed with abundant nature and is home to numerous famous waterfalls. Since ancient times, waterfalls have been revered as sacred places where gods dwell. Waterfalls are also depicted as subjects for Japanese paintings and hanging scrolls, and waterfalls are reproduced in Japanese gardens, enriching the lives of Japanese people.
The rock part is heaped up by the Taka-Maki-e technique. On the surface of the rocks, gold plates cut into squares and gold Maki-e are used to express a mossy atmosphere. A pine tree is precisely expressed by a combination of Taka-Maki-e and Hira-Maki-e. Water currents are expressed by the hira maki-e technique. The expression of stillness and movement and the balance of space give us a sense of Japanese beauty.
